IPOH: The Perak state government has introduced a special subsidy worth RM600,000 to assist 150 couples in undergoing in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment under the Permata Perak programme.
With a subsidy of RM4,000 per couple, this initiative aims to provide greater opportunities for those seeking to start a family.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad said that advancements in modern medicine have paved the way for various treatments that can help couples overcome fertility challenges.
“One of the most effective methods available today is IVF, which has become a primary option for couples trying to conceive.
“I have been informed that this method can increase success rates to between 40% and 50%, depending on the couple’s health condition and individual factors.
“For those aged between 25 and 45, with the right treatment and guidance from specialists, IVF success rates can reach between 75% and 90%,” he said.
He made these remarks while officiating the Metro IVF Ipoh Fertility Treatment Specialist Centre and launching the Impian Dua Garis Perak Support Group Programme.
Metro IVF Ipoh is now part of a network of 27 IVF fertility centres in Malaysia, six of which are owned by Metro IVF.
Having been in operation since April 2024, the centre’s presence in Perak expands access to fertility treatment for residents in the state.
Saarani further stated that the state government fully supports Metro IVF Ipoh’s initiative, which not only helps couples access fertility treatment but also contributes to maintaining the country’s demographic balance.
He added that the centre provides another accessible and affordable option for those seeking treatment.
“With careful planning and support from various stakeholders, we can ensure that more couples have the opportunity to experience the joy of parenthood.
“Hopefully, this effort will catalyze more programmes that benefit the people of Perak, in line with the objectives outlined in the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan,” he said.
