SELAMA: A total of 95 units of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, estimated to be worth RM8,457.60, were seized in a raid on a premises here yesterday.
The Director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Perak, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said all the LPG cylinders were found hidden in a storage room.
He added that a 33-year-old man, suspected to be the owner of the premises, failed to present any license or permit for the controlled LPG items when requested by the Malaysian Supply Control Officer.
“The raid was conducted at 11:30 AM on Tuesday by KPDN Perak enforcement officers from the Taiping branch.
“This action was the result of monitoring and inspections carried out by KPDN enforcement officers through Ops Api Biru.
“The inspection found that the premises were used as a storage facility for LPG,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Kamalludin added that 95 LPG cylinders, 53 of which contained LPG, were seized.
“The case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974.
“KPDN would like to issue a stern warning to any individuals or companies involved to always comply with the established regulations.
“KPDN will continue to carry out enforcement activities through the ‘Kita Gempur’ initiative,” he said.
This is part of efforts to address issues of business manipulation, prevent misuse of controlled goods, curb online business fraud (e-commerce), and combat monopolies and the existence of cartels.
