PARIT: Rumah Seri Kenangan Perak Tengah here has been chosen as the first location for the implementation of the Perak State Urban Farming Program for the year 2025.

The Chairman of the Perak Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture, and Food Industry Committee, Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun, stated that the residents of the home could make better use of their free time in a more productive way.

He added that the program was also a follow-up to the Perak Menteri Besar’s call, who frequently promotes the slogan “Plant what we eat, eat what we plant, and sell the rest.”

“This initiative is realized through the implementation of the Perak State Urban Farming Program for 2025 as a pilot project.

“The residents here have the opportunity to fill their free time with more meaningful activities while improving their quality of life,” he said.

He made this statement after officiating the launch of the Perak State Urban Farming Program for 2025 at Rumah Seri Kenangan Seri Iskandar.

Mohd Zolkafly also expressed his appreciation to the Perak Department of Agriculture and FAMA Perak for their role as monitoring agencies and providing continuous advisory services in the hydroponics project.

“God willing, this program will be extended to drug rehabilitation centers (PUSPEN) and inmates in prisons.

“This will give them the space and opportunity to acquire agricultural skills when they return to society later,” he added.
