JCI Kinta and National Cancer Society Malaysia Team-Up for Orang Asli

by KT Leong

Have you ever imagined life without basic food, hygiene essentials, or even knowing your own health status? Many in the Orang Asli community face these challenges daily, with little knowledge of what makes up a healthy lifestyle.

The Junior Chambers International (JCI) Kinta, in collaboration with National Cancer Society Malaysia, recently provided food and other essential supplies to the Orang Asli community at Pos Raya and Pos Slim as part of their Give a Helping Hand: Wings of Hope initiative.

Not only were these essentials distributed, but a medical team was brought along to offer health check-ups and educate the community on the importance of staying healthy.

This event impacted 65 Orang Asli families, especially single mother families.

2025 JCI Kinta President Irvin Ho stated that since 2018, JCI Kinta’s Give a Helping Hand project has been a beacon of support for underprivileged communities.

“This year, we are taking it to the next level. Not just by providing donations but by empowering the Orang Asli community with essential health awareness.”

“In collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia, we are bringing a dedicated medical team into the village to conduct health check-ups, educate on personal hygiene, and raise awareness on basic health practices. Our key focus is on single-mother families, ensuring that women and children receive the necessary knowledge and support to lead healthier lives.”

“At JCI Kinta, we believe that true impact goes beyond financial aid—it’s about creating sustainable change through education and empowerment. With our continuous efforts, we hope to improve the well-being of the Orang Asli community in Perak, fostering a healthier and more informed future.”

The organising chairlady of the event was Catherine Chan, and the 2025 JCI Kinta President was Irvin Ho.
