Pasar Tani Celebrates 40th Anniversary

By: Zaki Saleh

IPOH: Pasar Tani, a marketplace synonymous with fresh agricultural produce, marked its 40th anniversary with a vibrant celebration.

Established in 1985, Pasar Tani was introduced as a platform for farmers and entrepreneurs to sell their produce directly to consumers.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote local produce.

Since its inception, Pasar Tani has been vital in connecting farmers with consumers and offering fresh, high-quality produce.

With the theme ‘Pasar Tani, Pasar Pilihan’ (Pasar Tani, the Preferred Market), FAMA continues to enhance the agro-food sector, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and ensure food supply stability.

Over the years, Pasar Tani has grown into a go-to destination for Malaysians seeking fresh produce and daily essentials.

To commemorate the milestone, a grand celebration was held at Pasar Tani Kampung Simee, officiated by Perak State Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Agriculture, Plantation, and Food Industry, Dato’ Mohd Zolkafly Harun.

Also present were Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin and Perak FAMA Director Azleena Zainal Abidin.

As part of the celebration, four of the earliest Pasar Tani vendors were honoured with appreciation plaques—Pak Hashim Kraftangan, Pak Tam Rendang Tok, Pak Mail Daging, and Encik Sabri, a vegetable seller.
