Perak Derby 2025 Sees Strong Turnout at Perak Turf Club

The Meru Valley Resort Perak Derby 2025 brought together a spirited mix of racing enthusiasts, corporate guests, and socialites for an exciting afternoon at Perak Turf Club (PTC). Against the backdrop of thrilling races, guests enjoyed good company, engaging conversations, and a touch of friendly competition.

Guests arrived ready for a day of exciting races and lively conversation. The event welcomed representatives from Penang and Selangor Turf Clubs, along with members of the Lembaga Totalisator Board. Meru Valley Resort, the event’s title sponsor, added prestige to the event, strengthening ties between the racing community and corporate stakeholders.

Before the races gained momentum, an invitation-only luncheon provided a chance to unwind over a thoughtfully curated menu. The fusion of local and Western flavours was well received, sparking conversations that carried on into the afternoon. As guests mingled, they enjoyed drinks, coffee, and dessert while soaking in the lively energy of the event.

The highlight of the day was The Meru Valley Resort Perak Derby Cup 2025, a race that drew keen attention. As attendees gathered at the viewing decks and VIP areas, they placed their final bets and shared their predictions. The moment the barriers opened; all eyes were on the track.

Lucky Magic, a four-year-old horse and last year’s Singapore Gold Cup champion, delivered a powerful performance. Ridden by R Shafiq and trained by HY Cheng, Lucky Magic surged ahead in the final stretch, securing the RM200,000 prize purse to the cheers of the crowd.

Beyond the action on the track, the event was a social affair. Ladies arrived in stylish dresses, while gentlemen embraced the smart dress code. The public stand at PTC was buzzing, showing a growing interest in horse racing in Perak, with more spectators eager to witness the excitement firsthand.

Throughout the afternoon, many guests chatted about the growing popularity around Sun Yin Loong (SYL) @ PTC. The café has not only attracted racing patrons but has also introduced many first-time visitors to the Perak Turf Club. With its welcoming atmosphere, SYL @ PTC has quickly become a favourite among regulars and newcomers alike.

As the afternoon progressed, guests enjoyed the remaining races, exchanging stories and friendly wagers until the final contest concluded, rounding off another successful Perak Derby event. A true celebration of sport, camaraderie, and the evolving spirit of PTC.

Dato’ John Lim, Chairman of Perak Turf Club, summed up the essence of the day, saying, “It’s always a pleasure to see the Perak Derby bring people together, not just for the love of racing but for the connections and memories that are made here.”

He also expressed his optimism for the club’s future, highlighting the upcoming Ipoh Stables Market @ PTC, which will bring together retail, dining, and community experiences. With renovations underway and a launch set for Merdeka Day, the club continues to evolve as a space where tradition and new opportunities come together.
