IPOH: Amidst the festive atmosphere of the Ramadan bazaar selling a variety of delicious dishes for breaking fast, another important factor that requires attention is the cleanliness of the surroundings.
After business hours, the piles of waste left behind by traders and customers need to be cleaned to ensure the Ramadan bazaar site remains well-maintained.
This is the role undertaken by the cleaning staff of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) from the Municipal Services Department.
A total of 20 Ramadan bazaar locations around Ipoh are involved in this daily waste collection operation.
According to the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, the operation involves 27 cleaning staff.
“The operation involves four compactor trucks, and each day we estimate a collection of about four tons of waste.
“The collection operation runs from 8 PM to 11 PM,” he said.
Although waste collection services are provided, visitors and traders at the Ramadan bazaar are reminded to work together in maintaining the cleanliness of the location.
The habit of littering, especially food containers or wrappers, should be avoided. Instead, use the provided trash bins.
Cleanliness reflects the community.
