IPOH: Ipoh has achieved another milestone by recently being listed among the 100 best cities in the Asia-Pacific region for the year 2025.

This achievement was shared with other cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang.

According to the Mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, the recognition was made in the latest report by Resonance Consultancy.

He said the report highlights the city’s economic strength, livability, and cultural appeal.

“According to the Asia-Pacific’s Best Cities 2025 report, Kuala Lumpur ranks 10th, Johor Bahru 29th, Penang 31st, and Ipoh 98th out of the 100 cities surveyed across the region.

“These rankings evaluate cities based on factors such as economic opportunities, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and quality of life,” he said.

Meanwhile, he added that Ipoh is also emerging as one of the greenest cities in Malaysia.

Apart from being recognized for its limestone caves, heritage architecture, and a growing tourism sector.

“Ipoh scored well in environmental factors, ranking 6th for tree coverage and 23rd for air quality, making it one of the greenest urban centers in Malaysia.

“The Ipoh Riverfront Development project is expected to expand public attractions and green spaces, strengthening the city’s reputation as a destination for nature tourism and heritage conservation,” he said.

The list is determined using a combination of core statistics and user-generated data from online sources such as Google, TripAdvisor, and Instagram, along with a survey of over 7,000 citizens across nine countries in the region.
