Hospital Fatimah and St. John Ambulance Conduct First Aid Session for Silver Stars Club

By Lisa Wee

Hospital Fatimah, in collaboration with St. John Ambulance, recently conducted a two-hour First Aid Awareness session for 20 elderly members of the Silver Stars Club. This initiative aimed to equip senior citizens with essential first aid knowledge, empowering them to respond effectively to medical emergencies at home or in their communities.

The session featured expert guidance from Mr. Peh Kim Hock, Dr. Ivan Tan Tek Ming, and Ms. Ong Li Hoei, who provided hands-on demonstrations and practical advice. Topics covered included wound care, and emergency response techniques, ensuring participants gain confidence in handling common medical situations.

Many of the attendees had eagerly booked their spots as early as February, demonstrating the strong interest among senior citizens in learning crucial lifesaving skills. As an added benefit, each participant received a complimentary starter portable first aid kit, equipping them with the necessary tools to apply what they had learned.

Hospital Fatimah strongly advocates for elderly individuals to acquire basic first aid skills, not only for their own safety but also to assist their families in times of need.

This collaboration highlights the hospital’s ongoing commitment to community health and safety, ensuring that valuable first aid knowledge is accessible to all age groups. Hospital Fatimah and St. John Ambulance look forward to hosting more sessions in the future to continue promoting health awareness and emergency preparedness.
