“I Only Sell Kuih, but My Daughter Received Treatment at a Specialist Hospital” – Zarina

IPOH – “It feels almost unreal that my daughter was treated at a specialist hospital, considering that I only sell kuih,” said Zarina Mohd Ariffin, 53, mother to Nabila Rahmayani Ahmad, 16, who once struggled to afford her daughter’s medical treatment.

Hailing from Batu Gajah, Zarina shared that her youngest daughter, a special needs student at Sekolah Menengah Pangkalan, was diagnosed with an early-stage breast tumour.

However, everything changed when a friend suggested seeking assistance from the Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) Welfare Fund.

“I am incredibly grateful that my daughter successfully underwent surgery on January 10 and has now fully recovered. The care provided by PCSH was exceptional, regardless of a patient’s background,” she said when met at the Majlis Berbuka Puasa Kasih Ramadan event, organised by PCSH and PruBSN Takaful at Miker Signature Restaurant.

Nabila also expressed her gratitude for receiving medical treatment and being honoured at the event.

“Thank you to PCSH for treating me until I fully recovered. I am happy to be remembered and celebrated today,” she said.

Ten underprivileged families and former beneficiaries of the PCSH Welfare Fund participated in the event, along with more than 80 guests, including representatives from the takaful industry and recipients’ families.

PCSH Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Chan said the event was more than just a communal buka puasa gathering—it symbolised solidarity between medical institutions and takaful providers in supporting those in need.

“Giving back to the underprivileged is part of our responsibility as a community hospital.

“We also want to highlight the role of the PCSH Welfare Fund so that more patients in financial need can access proper medical treatment.

“As a non-profit hospital, PCSH is committed to providing quality healthcare at an affordable rate, while also offering aid through the Welfare Fund to ease the burden of those in need,” he said after presenting aid boxes and Duit Raya to the underprivileged families.

Also present was PruBSN Takaful Northern Region Head, Zabedah Mohd Salleh.

Nicholas reaffirmed that PCSH and PruBSN Takaful would continue working hand in hand in charitable efforts to improve the well-being of the community.
