IPOH: The uniqueness and diversity of food in Ipoh has received recognition as it was listed as one of the eight cities with the most underrated food in Asia.
Ipoh Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, said the list and recognition were made by Tatler magazine.
“This clearly reflects Ipoh’s status as a food haven in Malaysia, now recognized internationally.
“Other cities listed include Fukuoka (Japan), Hué (Vietnam), Iloilo (Philippines), Gwangju (South Korea), Hualien (Taiwan), Surabaya (Indonesia), and Luang Prabang (Laos),” he said.
He made this statement while chairing the full council meeting for March at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) meeting hall on Friday.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, he mentioned that the 2024 Sustainable City Status in Perak showed that 15 local authorities (PBT) have achieved Sustainable status, including MBI.
“MBI also achieved success by winning the award for Sustainable City Status 2024 in October last year.
“With this success, MBI has become one of the PBTs in Perak to receive this recognition under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government’s initiative,” he added.
