TELUK INTAN: A week-long intelligence operation led to a raid on an illegal storage facility here on Thursday, suspected of storing the controlled item liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) without a license or permit.

Director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Perak, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said a 42-year-old local man, who is the owner of the storage facility, was also detained.

He stated that the raid was carried out by enforcement officers from the KPDN Teluk Intan branch.

“During the inspection, the team discovered 60 units of 14kg LPG cylinders branded MyGaz, 110 units of 14kg cylinders branded Mira, and 141 units of 14kg cylinders branded Petronas.

“There were also 1,002 units of 12kg cylinders branded Petron and 12 units of 50kg cylinders branded Petron.

“In addition, 132 empty 14kg MyGaz cylinders, 332 empty 14kg Mira cylinders, and 50 empty 50kg Petron cylinders were found,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

Kamalludin added that the storage owner failed to produce any authorization letter, license, or permit to store controlled goods when requested by the inspection team.

As a result, he said, all the LPG items were seized, with the total estimated value of the confiscated goods amounting to RM183,318.20.

He further stated that the case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 for the suspected offense of possessing or storing scheduled controlled goods (LPG) without written permission from the authorities.
