RM1.374 Million approved for upgrading Jalan Medan Ipoh

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: A total allocation of RM1.374 million has been approved for the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to carry out resurfacing works on seven roads and landscaping in the Medan Ipoh area.

The project covers a total road length of 3.125 kilometers.

The allocation was granted by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) under the Sentuhan Kasih KPKT 3.0 initiative.

The announcement was made by the Minister of KPKT, Ngar Kor Ming.

He said the allocation aims to improve the well-being of the people, which is a key priority of the MADANI government.

The roads involved include Jalan Medan Ipoh 2, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1, 6, 11, and Lebuh Medan.

This initiative is expected to not only address the issue of limited parking, but also to resurface the roads with smoother and more even surfaces—enhancing comfort for road users.

It also serves as a model for more systematic and people-friendly urban infrastructure projects in the future.

Jalan Medan Ipoh is one of the busiest routes in the city, as the area is home to many shops and business premises.

Besides congestion, the poor and potholed road conditions have led to frequent complaints being lodged with MBI.

The situation worsens during rainy weather, with water pooling on the roads and an ongoing parking shortage in the area.
