IPOH: This year’s Aidilfitri celebration brought joyful news to the residents of Sri Connolly Flats on Jalan Pasir Puteh.
The entire roof of the flats will be repaired—a long-awaited improvement aimed at enhancing the residents’ quality of life.
A total of RM450,000 has been allocated for the repairs.
Housing and Local Government Minister (KPKT), Nga Kor Ming, announced that RM350,000 will come from the ministry, with the remaining RM100,000 contributed by the Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP).
“To add to the festive cheer, an additional RM50,000 from the MP’s allocation will be used to build a plaza in the commercial area of Sri Connolly Flats for the convenience of the residents,” he added.
The announcement was made during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration co-hosted by the Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timor and the Tebing Tinggi State Assemblyman, held at the flat compound.
Also present were Ipoh Timor MP Howard Lee, Tebing Tinggi Assemblyman Dr. Aziz Bari, and local community leaders.
Despite heavy rain earlier in the day, the residents’ spirits remained high.
They gathered joyfully, embracing the celebration and reflecting the strong sense of unity within the community.
Guests were treated to a variety of delicious festive dishes from food stalls set up for the occasion.
The celebration also featured a lucky draw with exciting prizes, including refrigerators, televisions, ovens, rice cookers, and hampers.
More than 500 children received festive “duit raya” during the event.
