By: Nur Nabilah

IPOH- On the 13th of April 2025, an initiative aimed at uplifting the local community, a free program known as Taklimat Penyeraian Home-Based Food was held in collaboration with Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) Kinta.

The program was organized through a joint effort between the KRT Rumah Pangsa Taman Harmoni Buntong and the Persatuan Penduduk Taman Harmoni Buntong, both chaired by Muhammad Faiz Abdullah.

The event, which ran from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Dewan KRT Rumah Pangsa Taman Harmoni Buntong, brought together 32 enthusiastic participants mostly from the B40 income group.

Residents from Flat Harmoni, Medan Permai Buntong, and other parts of the Kinta district came with one thing in common and it is the hope of starting or improving a small food business from home.

KKM Kinta (Batu Gajah) officers guided participants on food preparation knowledge.

Officers from Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia Kinta (Batu Gajah) were present to guide the participants through essential knowledge on hygienic food preparation, safety standards, and proper product labeling including the importance of clearly stating expiration dates.

These guidelines are vital for those seeking to apply for home-based food certifications from the Ministry of Health, enabling them to operate safely and legally.

The Harmoni community shows how much can be done when people work together. For many attendees, this wasn’t just a briefing, it was the first step towards turning a passion for food into a means of livelihood.
