This years State level Chinese New Year Celebration will be held on 16 February at Kg Baru Kopisan, Gopeng.
The announcement of the date was made by the State Exco for Local Government Dato Dr Mah Hang Soon who is also the Organising Chairman for the event.
The event will start at 9am and will be officiated by their Highnesses DYMM Raja Muda Perak Raja Nazrin Shah and DYTM Raja Puan Besar Tuanku Zara Salim.
Other VVIP’s who will grace the event include DYAM Raja DiHilir Perak and DYTM Raja Puan Muda Perak, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and MCA Chairman Dato Seri Chua Soi Lek.
The event will feature cultural songs and dances performed by local artists and from the local schools and orang asli community there.
Popular artist Shila Amzah who won the Asian Wave Chinese Reality singing talent show in Shanghai, China last year will be performing at the event. Shila with her strong and versatile vocals also sings in Chinese and will be a performance to look forward to.
During the event Ang Pau packets will be presented to orphans in attendance.
The event is expected to draw a crowd capacity of close to 10,000.
