The newly appointed mayor of Ipoh is no stranger to the city. Dato’ Harun Rawi, who took over from Dato’ Roshidi Hashim on January 2, 2014, has served in several government departments, in and around Ipoh. When he was the Deputy Director of Immigration Perak , I was the Enforcement Division Chief.
Harun is a man of few words but his decisions on immigration matters are being respected by all, including members of the public. He is firm in his decisions but is flexible when and where it matters.
Now that he is the mayor of Ipoh we, as ratepayers, can expect many changes. Ipohites will feel and see the differences soon. Harun is a man of action and he walks the talk, believe me!
Prior to this appointment he was the District Officer of Larut, Matang and Selama. Harun is a straightforward person whose primary concern is to serve the rakyat to the best of his ability. We all look forward to his dynamic leadership and his presence will help enhance Ipoh’s image during Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
Let us hope that under his able stewardship Ipoh will again be the cleanest town in Malaysia it once was. For this to happen, we need to give him and his staff our fullest support so he can fulfil his responsibilities without fear or favour.
To former mayor, Dato’ Roshidi Hashim, I wish you happy retirement. Kudos for bringing many changes to Ipoh.
