Taman Boon Bak Ipoh Rukun Tetangga celebrated International Women’s Day at their premises recently. The objective was to create awareness and recognition of women in the nation’s development. Officiating at the opening was ex-Parliament Member of Ipoh Timur, Dato’ Thong Fah Chong.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fah Chong said that we need to recognise the contribution of women in the various professions and their importance in all aspects of the nation’s development adding that behind every successful man is a woman.
Koperal Noraini representing Pasir Puteh, also spoke on the importance of women’s safety and the steps taken by the police force to curb crime in the area. She also encouraged more Chinese youths to join the police force. The organising chairman of this function, Mr Sit Wai Yin, Vice Chairman of Taman Boon Bak Rukun Tetangga, stressed the importance of education and contribution by women in all areas of growth.
