A strong partnership between the community and the police is essential in preventing criminal activities, especially in Taiping and its surrounding areas. This view was expressed by Taiping District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusuf Mohd Diah who said the public and local residents have a major role to play in helping the police to combat crime.
“Through several initiatives, including Community Policing Programme such as this one, we aim to work closely with the public,” said Yusuf after launching the programme at the Taiping District Police Headquarters recently.
“We enjoy a cordial relationship with local residents, as evidenced by the 400-strong participation during our recent cycling event. Besides members of the public, participants from social organisations and clubs also took part,” he told the audience.
The gathering was an opportunity for the police to get to know the people and also a platform to impart information on criminal activities prevalent in Taiping and its surroundings. Yusuf hoped that future initiatives by the police would receive similar support from the public. “Your support is not only timely but is most welcomed,” he reiterated.
