Designer Par Excellence
Ipoh-born P. Amutharasan, 23, was conferred four awards of excellence throughout his three-year stint at Politeknik Sultan Ibrahim in Pasir Gudang, Johor Baru. The honours were for Best Portfolio, Best Design, Best Student in Department and Best Overall Student.
Amutharasan, who has just graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Design and has, for the moment, returned to his family home in Taman Klebang Restu, organised a one-day solo exhibition recently entitled, ‘The Living Art’ at the Sri Murugan Centre here. “I brought together and displayed more than 30 exhibits that I’ve designed throughout my diploma course, from the first to sixth semester of study.”
Amutharasan’s designs attracted the attention of many who dropped by to view his debut show. Many were impressed with his creativity and his eye for detail.
While waiting to pursue his bachelor’s degree in textile and art and design at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Amutharasan works as a photographer during the day and teaches art at night. His ambition is to be a professional art director or graphic designer one day.
