The federal government is now allowing social gatherings to be organised beginning July 1, which include weddings, engagement parties, prayers and reunions.
The decision will surely excite not only the public but also event organisers, especially wedding planners, which were hard-hit by the previous enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) that disallowed mass gatherings as an effort to break the spread of COVID-19.
Despite that, social gatherings are only allowed for three to five hours with not more than 250 guests.
According to the Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, capacities of a reception depend on a hall’s size and space.
He also said that food can be served in dishes or by waiters, if buffet-style.
“Like every other permissions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) must be followed at all times, including a temperature screening counter at the hall entrance and ensuring that the amount of guests do not exceed 250,” he said in a daily media session for the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
“Guests are also encouraged to wear face masks and organisers must register them with the MySejahtera mobile app,” Ismail Sabri added.
