The state government through Tourism Perak is in efforts to ensure smooth operations of the hospitality industry in Perak and their adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The compliance panel for best practices in tourism products management (GBABPP) has begun spot-checking 24 hotels around Ipoh.
Tourism Perak chief executive officer, Nor Nurmalis Musa, who represented State Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi, said that Perak is the first state in the country to be seriously following guidelines set by GBABPP.
“We’ve done spot checks on hotels shortlisted by the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Malaysia Budget Hotels Association (MyBHA),” he stated in the hand-over ceremony of the compliance certificate today on July 1.
“Panelists are satisfied with assessments performed so far,” Nor Nurmalis added. “Hotels which have passed assessments will be listed on our Facebook page for reference from future tourists.
“Assessments will be performed on homestays and kampung-stays next week onwards. These will be executed until the following phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to the hopeful end of the pandemic,” he expressed.
According to him, all involved hotels which underwent spot checks are ready for visitors’ stay.
“Besides compliance to SOPs by the National Security Council and Ministry of Health, hotel operators went further by adding necessary existing SOPs,” Nor Nurmalis mentioned. “This is a very good initiative in guaranteeing the confidence and safety of tourists.”
