2020 Perak Virtual Run First-Ever Sport Tourism in Malaysia

The 2020 Perak Virtual Run which is scheduled for August 1 till 31 will be the debut Sport Tourism in Malaysia.

According to the State Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi, the programme will be highlighting 30 interesting tourism locations in Perak.

“This is an initiative by Tourism Perak via the state government to make the Independence Day celebration merrier,” she told reporters at the programme’s launching ceremony at Lost World of Tambun (LWOT) today on July 16.

“The Virtual Run is open to all Malaysians. The only difference is that the run can be done at any time and any day during the whole of August,” Nolee Ashilin noted. “Participants may record their running data wherever they might be, based on locations set by Tourism Perak.”

Also present were City Secretary of Ipoh City Council (MBI), Zuraina Kamarul Ariff, chief executive officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa, general manager of LWOT, Nurul Nuzairi Mohd Azahari and famed Malaysian actor, Zul Ariffin, as the ambassador of 2020 Perak Virtual Run.

Some of the iconic tourism locations set forward as locations of the run include Tambun,  Tempurung Cave, Bagan Datuk, Lumut, Parit, Taiping Lake Gardens, Kellie’s Castle, Ban Pecah, Muallim District and Teluk Intan.

“We welcome participation from youths, families and tourists from out of Perak,” Nolee Ashilin stated. “One needs to finish a five-kilometre long run at every location.

“Those who successfully finish the race during the month will be rewarded with gifts like T-shirts and medals,” she added.
