Some 200 people were seen visiting Taman Botani Perak (TBP) on August 4 when it once again opened its doors to the public.
According to Dipertua Taiping Municipal Council, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir, the park ceased operations for four months due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“We hope that the visitors will comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) imposed by the MKN. The park will operate from 8.30am to 7pm daily. However, visitors are not allowed to enter after 6.30pm.
“Visitors are not allowed to enter the park when it’s raining to prevent undesirable circumstances. There’s a restricted capacity of 500 visitors at a time to ensure sufficient physical distancing.
“We, however, don’t encourage children below the age of 12, seniors, differently abled (OKU) and symptomatic individuals to visit the park,” he told the reporters after the reopening ceremony.
Aside from taking visitors’ temperature, daily disinfection work, especially on frequently touched areas, are done by the staff. This is to make people feel safe and also boost their confidence in the park.
Visitors are required to sanitise their hands at the entrance and there will be no admission fee.
