Since the establishment of vocational colleges in Malaysia, many highly competent graduates have been trained to meet the needs of the country’s industrial sector.
“Karnival Jom Masuk Kolej Vokasional” organised by the Lebuh Catur Vocational College was a good opportunity for PT3 (formerly PMR) students to check out where their interests lie and how to pursue them.
Executive Councillor for Public Facilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water, Dato’ Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said that for the 2015 intake, only 45,000 students would be accepted into the 88 vocational colleges nationwide.
“This is a chance for students, teachers and parents to have an understanding of courses available and the mode of enrolment into these vocational colleges. It’ll also be helpful for students who are undecided on which technical field to pursue.”
The carnival, which saw the participation of six vocational colleges in Perak, attracted over 700 students from 16 schools around Ipoh. It was held at the Lebuh Catur Vocational college grounds recently.
Director of the college, Mokhtar Zakaria, said this to Ipoh Echo when met, “Those who graduate successfully from vocational colleges can venture into careers such as technicians in the electrical fields, both in private and public sectors. And they could also further their studies.”
