The federal government announced a month-long Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) today (November 7), starting Monday, November 9, lasting till Sunday, December 6.
This was a decision made by the National Security Council (MKN) following the worrying spike of new COVID-19 cases across the country recently.
The CMCO will take effect in all states (Kedah, Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Johor and Terengganu), except Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis and Sarawak.
CMCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan and Sabah will thus be extended for 28 days.
During CMCO, all public premises such as schools, universities, colleges, kindergartens, Quranic schools, mosques, suraus, public parks and recreational centres will be closed.
Interstate travel is not allowed, except for work purposes with permits from employers.
Only 2 persons living in the same house are allowed to go out and purchase daily necessities.
Social, sports, recreational and cultural activities, which include wedding receptions, are also prohibited during CMCO.
Entertainment centres and night clubs are also prohibited from opening.
Economic activities are allowed but are subject to operation hours and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs);
- Wholesale and daily markets (6am to 2pm);
- Restaurants, eateries and food stalls (6am to 10pm) (dine-in limited to 2 persons per table; drive-through orders, food deliveries and take-aways allowed) )
- Grocery shops, petrol stations, pharmacies, medical supply shops (6am to 6pm);
- Taxi/e-hailing and food delivery services (6am to 8pm);
- Clinics, government hospitals (24 hours)
Intercity and express buses are not allowed to operate.
Fisheries, farms and agricultural sectors are allowed.
Businesses and factories, including those under the small and medium industries, may apply for operation allowance from the State Disaster Management Committee.
The CMCO was previously implemented between May 4 to June 9 earlier this year.
