Meru Valley’s Patchwork Society Raises RM17,000 for Disabled Children
Visitors bought festive gifts in support of the children from Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Setia, Silibin; from beautiful hand-sewn batik face masks, bags and purses to kids’ toys as well as fresh vegetables from Cameron Highlands.
Founder of the Patchwork Society, Datin Mina Ushiama, said: “Stringent SOPs meant we never expected such a good turnout. Some local and international friends who couldn’t make it to the bazaar purchased our crafts via WhatsApp.”
Ms Mei, a member of the resort who shopped for her family and niece said: “I bought 2 pre-loved toys for my niece, then a tape-made bag for myself and some fresh vegetables for my mother.”
For those who have missed the charity bazaar, the patchwork society will be selling their items via Meru Valley Resort’s e-bazaar on their Facebook page.
The Meru Valley Patchwork Society was initiated by Datin Mina Ushiama, with the support of the resort’s management. Twelve ladies of various nationalities get together every Tuesday for the love and passion of handicraft and sewing at the Common Room in the clubhouse.
