Perak will be placed under Movement Control Order effective 12.01am January 22 till February 4.
“Till January 18, Perak has recorded a cumulative total of 4481 positive cases. 8 out of 12 districts have recorded more than 40 cases, namely Kinta, Larut Matang, Selama, Kerian, Hilir Perak, Manjung, Kuala Kangsar, Muallim and Batang Padang,” Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) explained via media conference today (January 19).
The decision was made in view of the risk assessment and advice by the Ministry of Health.
“The SOPs of MCO remain the same as I announced recently. For instance, residents are not allowed to be out and only 2 per household are allowed to travel for the purpose of obtaining daily necessities including in cases of emergency,” Ismail Sabri explained.
“Restaurants, shops, food stalls, food trucks, food courts, roadside stalls, grocery stores and convenience shops are allowed to operate from 6am till 8pm. Supply and sales of food are allowed via takeaway, drive-thru or delivery only starting 6am till 8pm. Hospitals and clinics are permitted to operate up to 24 hours, while pharmacies from 6am till 8pm. Petrol stations are allowed to operate from 6am till 10pm except those at highways, which are allowed to operate 24 hours,” he stated.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his televised address yesterday (January 18), listed five economic sectors that are allowed to operate during the MCO: manufacturing, construction, services, trade and distribution and plantations and commodities.
