Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) explained on the SOPs for Chinese New Year during the MCO period via media conference today (February 4).
“Firstly, the celebration of Chinese New Year including prayers and reunion dinners are allowed at one’s own home with family members from the same home only. Praying ceremonies at the temple is not allowed except for only 5 committee members of the temple. Thus, devotees are encouraged to perform prayer ceremonies at home,” he stated.
According to him, cultural performances and activities such as lion dance, dragon dance, lantern parade and opera performances are not allowed.
“Activity of visiting houses is not permitted. Inter-district and inter-state travels are banned,” he added.
For Sarawak, the SOPs will be decided by the Sarawak state government.
