Non-Islamic Houses of Worship Permitted to Operate During CMCO

Non-Islamic houses of worship are permitted to operate during the MCO, CMCO and RMCO period from February 19 till March 4. They are subjected to allocated SOPs as stated by the Ministry of National Unity via a media statement dated today (February 20).

For areas placed under CMCO, the number of devotees present must not exceed 50% capacity of the premises (subject to the terms of the National Security Council and consideration of the state government). The duration of praying times is subjected to the management of respective houses of worship.

Meanwhile, praying ceremonies in conjunction with Chap Goh Mei to be celebrated on February 26 are also subjected to SOPs. For areas placed under CMCO, religious activities/prayers are allowed at houses of worship with the number of devotees present not exceeding 50% of the capacity of the premises (subject to the terms of the National Security Council and consideration of the state government). The duration of praying times is subjected to the management of respective houses of worship. Praying activities on the same date is allowed within respective home porches.

The Ministry of National Unity advised all devotees performing religious activities/prayers at houses of worship nationwide to adhere to the SOPs and practise the new normal in order to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
