Ipoh City Council (MBI) has decided to postpone any form of assessment tax enforcement action towards premise owners in arrears for the entire duration of 2021.
According to the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, an approach via discussion will be implemented to reduce the burden of Ipohites who have assessment tax arrears.
“The council welcomes attendance of owners who have difficulties paying for arrears of assessment tax bills to the MBI building to discuss payment methods, whether via installment payment or based on owners’ capabilities.
“MBI will also be extending the final date of assessment tax bill payment for the year 2021 by two months. The final date for Term 1/2021 is April 30, 2021, while Term 2/2021 is October 31, 2021,” he said during a presentation of the council’s full board meeting at the designated conference hall today (February 26).
Meanwhile, Rumaizi said that the council will be continuing the Year 2021 Assessment Tax Bill Payment campaign, particularly payment of assessment tax per annum and without arrears, to be eligible for the lucky draw of 2021.
Attractive prizes in the form of cash totalling RM76,000 await, besides main prizes worth RM20,000 and 200 consolation prizes. The last date of participation is before or on February 28.
“Payment of assessment tax can be done at MBI payment counters or online via www.mbi.gov.my, internet banking, JomPay and PBTPay.
“This is an initiative to encourage Ipohites in making payments without having to go to the counters but still qualify for the lucky draw.
“The council, with joint effort from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), has sent some 54,613 SMS notifications of PBTPay to customers’ handphones as a friendly reminder to make payments for the 2021 Assessment Tax Bill,” he added.
