Here is another episode of my virtual photographic journey.
Day 10: Sekinchan
“Sekinchan is a small town located in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, Malaysia. It is located along the coastal Federal Route 5. Apart from being a lively fishing village, Sekinchan is one of the major rice producing areas of Malaysia. The vast, well-irrigated and organized paddy fields around Sekinchan produce one of the highest yields of rice in the country. Sekinchan is often visited for its fresh seafood. It also draws diners from Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh. There are some rice millers in the area where locally produced rice can be purchased.” (Wikipedia)
Sekinchan has become a popular tourist destination in the last few years and a common destination for day trips. I personally went twice. It is not impressive but it’s still a refreshing change from city life for a few hours. The paddy fields are huge but everything is done with modern machines. Nothing like Bali, Vietnam or Philippines Cordillera. There is a popular Chinese wishing tree on the seafront. The fishing village is also one of the places to hang around. Many locals are fond of going to eat seafood in the various restaurants of the village. The nearby Sky Mirror tour is also popular but it is really not for me.
