Some 500 school students from 30 primary schools in Lintang received account opening contributions for the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN-i) sponsored by the state government via Yayasan Perak and Lintang State Assembly (ADUN) Service Centre yesterday (March 12).
Some of the schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kota Lama Kanan, SK Karai, SK Trosor, SK Lasah, SK RKT Lasah, SK Jawang, SK Periang and SK Temin.
The sponsorship of RM100,000 was funded by Yayasan Perak while RM10,000 was from ADUN Lintang.
The aid was presented by Executive Councillor for Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transportation, Dato’ Mohd Zolkafly Harun, who’s also the state assembly member for Lintang constituency.
Also present were the general manager of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) Perak, Andi Nurali Mohamed and chief district education officer of Kuala Kangsar, Safuan Rabaai.
In his speech, Mohd Zolkafly said that citizens’ needs and welfare are always prioritised in every matter performed by either the government or a party.
He added, the presented aid is to provide awareness and to encourage the public to save money for children’s future usage in furthering their studies.
“This is also to educate society to not overly depend on higher education loan schemes.
“The SSPN-i funds also lessens the burden of higher education debt in the coming days,” Mohd Zolkafly mentioned.
