Some 319 trainees from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) including 83 women have successfully completed their 63/2020 Air Force Recruit Training Series at the Air Force Academy in Ipoh yesterday (March 20).
The passing out parade was graced by the Chief of Air Force, General Tan Sri Ackbal Abdul Samad.
It was held differently than usual. Only RMAF senior officers were in attendance due to adherence to SOPs to prevent further transmission of COVID-19.
Air Force Recruit (PjM U), Muhammad Fitri Mahadir was declared Best Overall Trainee and received the Air Force Chief Challenge Trophy.
Best Academic Award was reaped by PjM U Muhammad Sollahuddin Aziz, while the Best Shooter Award was given to PjM U Ammar Syafeq Mustafa.
Recruit Charlie was adjusted the Best Overall Recruit. He was awarded the Commandant’s Trophy.
The awards presentation was officiated by the Chief of Air Force, accompanied by the Commandant of the Air Force Academy, Colonel Baharudin Abu Hassan.
All trainees started their courses on October 31 last year, which took place for 24 weeks and divided into three phases, as implemented via SOPs.
The historical passing out parade may also be viewed by family members of trainees via livestream at RMAF’s official social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Ackbal congratulated trainees who have successfully completed their courses despite the different circumstances.
He also reminded the new generation of RMAF to uphold discipline, effectiveness and efficiency in becoming national heroes who are always prepared for operation requirements set by leaders.
“For nearly 63 years since the start of PjM U basic training courses, the management performed countless upgrades to improve training skills and competencies in bringing active and disciplined RMAF personnel into realisation.
“It’s in line with two out of eight main cores of the Air Force Chief’s Order of the Day, which are Human Resource Development and Reinforcing Operational Capabilities of RMAF,” he said.
Also present were the Chief of Air Operations, Lieutenant-General (Lt Gen) Mohammad Salleh Osman and the Chief of Air Training and Education, Maj Gen Mohd Shahada Ismail.
