Via the national COVID-19 immunisation programme, a total of 328,254 individuals had completed two doses of vaccine as of yesterday (April 6). In the same period, 534,191 individuals had received the first dose, making the overall total of doses administered in the country to be equivalent to 862,445.
According to the Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba via an infographic shared in his official Twitter account, five states with the highest number of recipients of the first dose were Selangor (73,433), Sarawak (55,037), Perak (51,469), Sabah (49,203) and Kuala Lumpur (29,341).
Meanwhile, the five states with the highest number of recipients who had completed two doses to date were Selangor (41,043), Perak (34,035), Sabah (33,814), Kuala Lumpur (29,341) and Sarawak (28,472).
According to the planning of the immunisation programme, duration of the first phase of vaccination which began in February till April will involve 500,000 frontliners including healthcare workers.
The second phase which is expected to begin from April to August comprises 9.4 million individuals from high risk groups like the elderly of 60 years old and above, vulnerable and differently abled.
Meanwhile, the third phase scheduled to begin May till February 2022 involves adults of age 18 and above, targeting about 14 million individuals. – news sourced from BERNAMA
