A row of shop lots were damaged in a fire that broke out yesterday at Jalan Lee Ling Hin in Menglembu, Ipoh.
According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call was received at around 10.09pm.
“A squad and a vehicle from the Pasir Putih Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the location right after.
“The operation was also aided by the BBP from Ipoh and Simpang Pulai, having 18 fire personnel involved along with 15 volunteer fire brigades from Pasir Pinji, Pekan Baru and Menglembu.
“Upon arrival, seven B-class, 80×30 feet shop lots were on fire, though only the front doors of 7×13 feet each were 50 percent destroyed overall,” he explained.
The shop lots comprised five barber shops, a tailoring shop and an empty building. No victims were reported.
“The fire was extinguished using four reels of 300 feet each with seven water-based jets.
“The operation ended in the wee hours of 12.07am earlier today (May 23), led by Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent (PKPgB) Mohd Fadzeli Che Hussin,” the spokesperson added.
