Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is offering a discount ranging from five to 40 percent to 7.4 million domestic users in line with the Economic Recovery and People’s Protection Package (PEMULIH) which was announced by the Prime Minister on Monday (June 28).
TNB said in a statement that a total of 9.1 million domestic and non-domestic customers in Peninsular Malaysia will benefit from the targeted discount.
“A five percent discount is also provided to users from Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) under commercial, industrial and specific agriculture tariff categories of low voltage, which will benefit 1.6 million consumers of TNB.
“A 10 percent discount is given to customers in six selected business sectors via the PEMERKASA Plus initiative involving 11,800 customers until December 31,” the statement mentioned.
The six sectors are hotel operators, travel and tourism agencies, shopping complexes, convention centres, theme parks and local airline offices.
According to TNB, apart from the discount offered under the PEMULIH package, customers in Peninsular Malaysia will continue to enjoy the rebate of Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) of 2 sen/kWh from July till December.
“For both domestic and SME customer categories, the calculation of the PEMULIH Electricity Bill Discount is based on the total monthly usage from July 1 till September 30, and TNB is taking the necessary steps to ensure the smooth implementation of this discount.
“Consumers will see the discount reflected in their electricity bill starting from July 15, and for customers who receive a bill dated between July 1 to 14, the discount will be included in the August bill,” the statement added.
