A two-year-old girl was trapped in a locked Perodua Bezza at a petrol station in Chemor this morning (July 27).
During the incident which occurred at about 10am, the child was reported to have been trapped in the car after the vehicle auto-locked when her mother had gone to pump petrol.
A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said the child was rescued by fire brigade personnel who opened the door of the car.
According to the spokesperson, they received an emergency call regarding the incident before a team of personnel with machinery from the Meru Fire and Rescue Station led by Operations Officer Rosdi Mohd Radzi was dispatched to the location of the incident.
“Upon arrival, our personnel found a child who was believed to have been trapped in the car for more than 10 minutes.
“The personnel took about three minutes to open the door of the car using special equipment,” the spokesperson explained.
The victim, successfully and safely rescued, was then handed to her mother.
