The state government is confident that the target of 40 percent of residents to receive vaccination in order to create a safe community will be achieved this August.
Menteri Besar, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad said that should a delay happen, the threshold value is hoped to be achieved latest in September.
According to him, a total of 683,332 or 36.69 percent of Perakeans have received their first dose while 378,851 (20.34 percent) have completed two doses of the vaccine.
“The figure was recorded till July 26 with a target of reaching 40 percent this August.
“Thus, we hope the target can be achieved.
“However, the target is subject to the vaccine supply which will be received for August and September,” he said in a statement.
As of last Monday, Perak has received 1,191,789 doses of Pfizer, Sinovac and Astrazeneca vaccines.
The vaccine supply scheduled to be received in July is 688,760 doses.
Saarani added, from the total, 438,191 doses were received since July 1 until 26, while the remaining 250,569 doses are expected to be received this week.
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme of Perak began on February 24, targeting 80 percent of its 1,862,600 residents of age 18 years old and above to achieve herd immunity.
As of July 26, a total of 1,250,358 individuals (77.9 percent) have registered as immunisation recipients.
