A total of 300 food baskets will be distributed to traders of Memory Lane as a means to ease their burden during the current Movement Control Order (MCO).
Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi said the efforts to aid the affected community are able to be carried out via the MBI Prihatin (MBI Cares) programme.
“We are grateful for the support from M/S Fuze Development ZK Sdn Bhd who has sponsored the food baskets, each worth RM40. I hope this collaboration will continue so that no one is left behind during this crisis.
“The state government welcomes cooperation from various companies to also participate in the MBI Prihatin Programme to ensure the wellbeing of the people, most of whom are currently going through economic hardships,” she told the media after presenting donations to three representatives of Memory Lane traders at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) today.
Since the enforcement of the MCO on March 18, 2020, MBI has introduced the MBI Prihatin Programme. As of August 4, more than RM750,000 has been spent to assist residents, traders as well as MBI staff.
MBI’s strategic partners, namely Econsave, Kuala Lumpur Kepong (KLK) Berhad, Daboba Berhad and Bonanza Venture Holdings Sdn Bhd (BVH) have also participated in the programme.
Meanwhile, Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the MBI Urban Poverty Welfare Committee also contributed 10 cupboards and a washing machine to Rumah Teduhan Kelana, a welfare home located at Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar, Ipoh.
“According to the Perak Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) records, this welfare home has accommodated a total of 220 homeless men since its operation in 2017.
“I hope this contribution will facilitate the daily management of the homeless as the residents increase from time to time,” he expressed.
