The police of Perak have completed recording the statements of a few individuals, including a suspect whose claim that two students from SMK Tasek Damai here in Ipoh died after being vaccinated was made viral through social media recently.
State police chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that the suspect, a woman aged 39, had her statement recorded at Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters in Selangor yesterday (October 3).
“All of those involved in the case were investigated, namely the Ulu Kinta Health director, principal of SMK Tasek Damai, medical officers who provided treatment for the late students, the students’ family members, and witnesses who were with the suspect when the claim was made in the viral video.
“When the suspect was questioned, she admitted to having such a claim made in the video.”
Mior told reporters during a media session after inspecting SOP compliance under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) at St Michael’s Institution, Ipoh, here today (October 4).
Also present were the Ipoh District Police Chief Yahaya Hassan and the principal of St Michael’s Institution, Ipoh, Sit Wai Yin.
Mior added that an investigation was opened under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace and Section 505(b) of the same Code for causing fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public.
“Investigation papers will be submitted to the State Prosecution Director to charge the suspect,” he mentioned.

Inter-district Travelling to be Allowed If Vaccination Rate Satisfactory
Meanwhile, all inter-district roadblocks (SJR) in the state will be considered for dissolution should the COVID-19 vaccination rate be satisfactory.
“We’ll hold discussions with the Perak Contingent COVID-19 Secretariat in the nearest timeframe regarding the suggestion.
“If the vaccination rate maintains a good progression, we’ll propose for dissolution of inter-district SJRs, while interstate ones at the borders of Perak between Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang and Selangor are to remain active.
“However, it’s the state government’s decision to study the proposal,” he added.
According to the latest vaccination statistics by COVIDNOW, 67.8 percent of the total population of Perak have received at least one dose of the vaccine, 55.6 percent out of which have been fully vaccinated. The remaining 32.2 percent of the total population have yet to obtain the vaccine.
Mior assured that the police will intensify efforts to counter crime in the state whenever the inter-district travel ban is lifted.
“We know that would-be criminals will have easier movement access if that’s the case. As such, we’ll put more officers and personnel to the task of ensuring that Perak is always safe.
“If the SJRs are dissolved, we’ll be able to focus on other public safety aspects, such as controlling the crime rate in Perak,” he expressed.
