Hostel Supervisor Pleaded Guilty for Bribery

A hostel supervisor pleaded guilty to bribery at the Ipoh Sessions/Magistrate Court today (October 13).

The accused, Muhamad Rozi Ahmad Puad, 35, made the plea in front of Judge S. Indra Nehru.

According to charge sheets, he solicited and accepted a bribe of RM5,800 from an individual named Ahmad Tarmizi Hariff as a wage for not initiating deduction on contractor claims regarding food supply services.

The accused committed the offence at Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Ulum al-Syar’iyyah in Bagan Datuk on July 31, 2017.

He was convicted under Section 165 of the Penal Code, subjecting him to punishment under the same Code.

The court ordered for a bail of RM8,000 with one-day jail, as well as eight months of imprisonment should he be found to be in default.

Case proceedings were carried out by Deputy Public Prosecutor Maziyah Mansor, while the accused was unrepresented.
