Balek Kampong

With the Hari Raya Aidilfitri around the corner, sales are picking up at shopping malls, clothing, textile, electrical, electronic shops and furniture stores in Ipoh.

This is indicative that the festive shopping rush has begun and the “balik kampong” syndrome is in the air. It is when Ipoh experiences extremely high traffic volume evidenced by the increase in number of trains and buses entering and exiting the Ipoh railway station and the Amanjaya Bus Terminal. Thousands of people, working or studying outside of the city are returning home to be with their families as the holidays approach.

Here is a pictorial round-up of Ipoh prior to Hari Raya Adilfitri taken by our Ipoh Echo team.
