RM46.5 Million to Aid Micro SMEs

The state government announced various Economic Stimulus Packages with a total of RM46.5 million allocated to aid micro small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of Perak.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Saarani Mohamad said the allocation is aimed to lighten the burden of SMEs while navigating through the tough pandemic period.

“Special assistance of one-off RM300 will also be given to 41,730 traders and small businesses registered with the local authorities (PBT) with an allocation of RM12.5 million.

“We also provide the Perak Entrepreneurs Grant (GeRUP) totalling RM1.85 million to 619 recipients. Compensation payments for traders involved in the cancelled Aidilfitri Bazaar this year involve funds totalling RM30,000.

“Rental exemption for 10,264 stalls under the PBT involves a financial sum totalling RM1.6 million. Loan repayment moratorium of Tabung Usahawan Yayasan Perak (Perak Foundation Entrepreneur Fund) and micro credit loans of Yayasan Bina Upaya will involve a total of 743 borrowers.

“For entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector, this initiative benefits the farmers, poultry farmers and fishermen with the provision of seeds, produce-harvesting tools and food boxes among others,” he said in a media conference today (October 19) during a tour around Ipoh with Perak entrepreneurs.

According to him, the concept of business digitalisation has brought positive impacts especially from the marketing aspect, besides being able to revive the economy of the people and the state.

“The state government via UPEN, STeP and IDR will continue to look for ways to empower the entrepreneurs to rebuild their business.

“The assistance named ‘Bantuan Perak Sejahtera Usahawan Kraftangan Perak’ totalling RM182,000 will be given to 91 handicraft entrepreneurs throughout the state. The one-off assistance of RM2,000 is hoped to help these entrepreneurs to revive their businesses.”

At the same time, Saarani urged all state agencies and government-linked companies (GLC) to use the products of Perak entrepreneurs as their respective official souvenirs to help promote them.
