The Ministry of Education set that only teachers who have completed vaccination are permitted to conduct teaching and learning (PdP) in class and interact with students.
It is included in the preparation of the comprehensive plan for the reopening of schools to ensure students can return to face-to-face learning safely.
Minister of Education, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin said the ministry had held an engagement session to obtain the perspectives and suggestions from all parties involved.
“The plan is also made via detailed analysis together with the Ministry of Health and the National Security Council, and it is in line with the National Recovery Plan.
“To ensure a smooth school operation, the ministry has prepared a Guidelines for School Management and Operation 3.0 as reference for state education departments, district education offices, administrators and teachers,” he said while answering a question at the Dewan Negara today (October 20).
He was replying to the question from Senator Datuk Bashir Alias on the type of COVID-19 situation risk analysis and other aspects considered by the ministry in deciding the opening of schools.
The management guideline includes mandatory face mask wearing and ensuring a good ventilation system in the classroom.
Besides that, the ministry also limits the student capacity in school at 50% of overall enrollment.
It is previously reported by the press that the ministry retains its stand to transfer teachers who refuse to receive COVID-19 vaccination as the face-to-face school session starts in stages, beginning yesterday.
Deputy Minister of Education, Datuk Dr. Mah Hang Soon explained that teachers as civil servants should comply with the requirements of the Public Service Department (JPA) regarding the condition of full vaccination for public service personnel.
