Running on the theme ‘This Decade is Your Decade’, the 2021 National Youth Day was celebrated in the new norm yesterday (October 30).
Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated, “The future of our beloved nation lies in the hands of our youths. This important group will not be sidelined in the development of the nation or Budget 2022, which was tabled yesterday.”
According to him, there are a total of 25 direct and indirect incentives offered specifically for the youth in Budget 2022 through various platforms.
Among them is the ‘PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia’ initiative which provides tablets for students in the B40 group. The government will cover RM800 of the cost for each tablet. A total of RM450 million has been allocated for this initiative and will benefit up to 600,000 B40 students.
Besides that, there are also other incentives such as e-Start, whereby 2 million youths aged 18-20 years or full-time students will have RM150 credited into their e-wallet. Meanwhile, the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) provides RM350 to single individuals with income below RM2,500, and RM 1,000 for couples who do not have children.
“The announcement of Budget 2022 yesterday reaffirms the government’s commitment on the creation of 600,000 job opportunities through the JaminKerja incentive to help the youths who are still unemployed,” the Prime Minister highlighted.
“The government is optimistic that the various initiatives outlined in Budget 2022 will provide great benefits for the Malaysian Family (Keluarga Malaysia), particularly the youths. No one will be left behind!” he added.
He also shared that the New Youth Development Model (MBPB) 2030 is set to be launched in March next year.
Present at the celebration was Youth and Sports Minister, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu among others.
