Members of the public can take the air route to Terengganu from Perak once the plan to create a direct flight from Ipoh is carried out.
However, Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud said that it depends on the demand, to further boost the tourism activities in Perak.
“We want to increase tourism and economic activities in the state, especially Ipoh. It is not solely about the distance.
“If there is demand, flights can be organised as the existing runway can accommodate the use of Airbus,” he told the media during an event celebrating the delegation of Terengganu media members at Lost World Of Tambun yesterday. The visit was aimed to promote tourism of both states besides strengthening the relationship among media members.
According to him, aviation technology is developing rapidly and it can be implemented to attract tourists.
He added that in countries such as Thailand and North Sumatra, there are also direct flights due to high demand from tourists.
