The GREAT Scholarships applications for the academic year 2022-2023 are available once again for Malaysian students wishing to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
This year, the GREAT Scholarships 2022 programme offers more than RM500,000 in scholarships to eligible Malaysian students.
Eight UK universities have partnered with the British Council to offer scholarship opportunities under the GREAT Scholarships 2022 Malaysia scheme. These are the University of Sussex, Teesside University, Liverpool John Moores University, Keele University, Bishop Grosseteste University, University of Cumbria, University of Glasgow and the University of Hull.
The GREAT Scholarships scheme is jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council, and participating UK higher education institutions, targeting prospective postgraduate students from a selected number of countries who will enrol in UK universities in the autumn of 2022.
In addition, the UK has also established a new initiative called the Graduate Route, which will allow international students holding a valid Student Visa at the time of application to look for work in the UK for two years.
British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Charles Hay said: “Education has always been a key pillar in the UK’s deep bilateral relationship and people-to-people links with Malaysia. I am therefore delighted that, in addition to the UK government’s Chevening Awards, the GREAT Scholarships scheme will help Malaysia’s top students pursue world-class postgraduate studies in the UK.”

For the academic year 2022/2023, the GREAT Scholarships are solely available for one-year postgraduate programmes in the UK. Malaysian students who wish to apply for the scholarships must have obtained an offer of admission from one of the eight participating institutions listed above and must meet all university entry criteria for the course they wish to pursue.
