The residents of Ashby Road Flat were shocked by a tragic incident involving the death of a man believed to be caused by involvement in a fight in front of a morning market stall early yesterday.
In the incident which occurred at about 9.50am, the victim, Muhammad Noor Faqih Mohamed Ariffin, 29, was confirmed dead on site.
The incident shocked the residents as the victim lived there and was known by many.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the police received a call from a woman about the fight at about 9.50am.
According to him, the incident is believed to have occurred when the victim was accused of having allegedly stolen a portable speaker at a stall owned by one of the suspects.
“The victim, who was at the location of the incident, was said to have used a speaker owned by the suspect at a high volume, which had then led to a fight.
“He was said to have scuffled with three men before one of them strangled his neck. The victim is also believed to have been suffering from mental illness,” he stated.
Investigation found that the victim had seven past records of various crime cases including those that were drug-related.
“Preliminary inspection on the victim’s body found small wounds on the right side of the forehead and the wrist of the left hand.
“The victim’s body was brought to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for postmortem to determine the cause of death. Investigation is still ongoing,” he added.
Following that, the police detained three male suspects aged 60, 47 and 34 at the location of incident to aid investigation according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
