MBI Places 520 Rubbish Bins at Tourist Hotspots
A total of 520 rubbish bins will be provided by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) around the city to facilitate visitors and at the same time cultivate good hygiene practices.
Some of the bins will be placed at tourist spots such as the Ipoh Heritage Trail.
Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin said the programme aims to cultivate the practice of using rubbish bins among Ipoh citizens.
According to him, this will help MBI achieve its goal to create a clean and healthy environment in Ipoh.
“Society needs to be educated to change towards cultivating cleanliness and environmental care.
“I hope that through this programme, the citizens of Ipoh can make the practice of maintaining cleanliness as a culture as early as at home and subsequently create a society that appreciates and prioritises cleanliness,” he said.
He said this at the ‘Programme to Cultivate the Practice of Using Garbage Bins’ among Ipoh citizens, at Dataran Warisan Dato ‘Sagor yesterday (December 18).
Also present were City Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak and MBI Senior-Technical Director, Khairul Anuar Lodin.
According to Rumaizi, the programme involves an allocation of RM300,000.
He said the rubbish bins with a low carbon and smart city concept design will be placed in stages until the programme is completed next February.
